Project Background

The Washington DC Commission of the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) partnered with the Department of Public Works (DPW) for the Designed to Recycle truck fleet wrap project. For this project, they wrapped their fleet of recycling trucks with designs created by local artists. Not only would this project draw attention to recycling, it would also celebrate the work of the Washington DC art community. It was an awesome concept, and we were honored to be chosen as the company that would install these extraordinarily creative truck fleet wraps.

Where We Came In

For this project, each of the ten recycling trucks in this fleet wrap had a completely different piece of artwork. First, we received the selected artist’s 2-D designs and fit them into our software, then printed out the designs on 3M vinyl. Next, we were able to wrap the designs around each truck. The contours of a recycling truck present a unique challenge when it comes to laying down vinyl, but our 3M certified installers were more than up to the challenge!

The DCCAH and DPW chose the perfect way to spread awareness about recycling, and showcase the work of local artists. Fleet wraps are the most cost-effective way to reach a large number of people. Touch-a-Truck

When the project was completed, the “Touch-a-Truck” event was held in DC to showcase the work. The DCCAH and DPW used this as an opportunity to show off their fleet wrap to the community. The event was a huge success (as you can see in the video above).
